Apocalyptica is in Finske metalband yn 1993 oprjochte yn Helsinki. De band brocht yn 1996 syn debútalbum Plays Metallica by Four Cellos út. Apocalyptika is begûn mei fjouwer sello's – dêr 't no noch trije fan oer binne.
Nei harren suksesfolle earste album Plays Metallica by four sellos folge gau in twadde album: Inquisition symphony. It jier dêrnei kaam harren tredde album út: Cult. Dêr 't it twadde album ophold mei allinnich twa eigen nûmers, gie it tredde album fierder. Yn 2002 gie Max Lilja fuort en bleau de band noch út trije sellisten bestean.
By it meitsjen fan it fjirde album Reflections hawwe se in soad artysten frege foar in gastbydrage, ûnder oare de Dútske punk-diva Nina Hagen, fierder Linda Sunblad en drummer Dave Lombardo fan Slayer. Omdat se Lombardo net as fêste drummer hâlde koene foar it toeren, ferfolle Mikko Sirén dy posysje.
