Die 63ste Oscar-toekenningsaand is op 25 Maart 1991 deur die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles gehou om erkenning te gee aan die rolprente van 1990. Die aanbieder was Billy Crystal.
Die grootste wenner was Dances with Wolves, wat sewe Oscars ingepalm het, onder meer vir beste rolprent en regisseur. Whoopi Goldberg het die prys vir beste vroulike byspeler gewen en was die eerste swart Amerikaner wat ’n Oscar gewen het sedert Hattie McDaniel in 1939.
Een van die mense wat opgetree het, was Reba McEntire. Haar besluit om te sing was effens omstrede omdat sewe lede van haar orkes en haar reisbestuurder onder die tien mense was wat ’n week tevore in ’n vliegongeluk naby San Diego gesterf het. Sy het die benoemde liedjie I'm Checking Out uit die prent Postcards from the Edge opgedra aan haar orkeslede wat gesterf het.
Dit was die laaste keer dat daar nie ’n kategorie vir beste visuele effekte was nie en waar ’n spesiale prestasieprys in die plek daarvan toegeken is.
Billy Crystal het as aanbieder twee Emmys gewen – een vir skryf en die ander vir die aanbieding.
