Die 19de Oscar-toekenningsaand is op 13 Maart 1947 deur die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles gehou om erkenning te gee aan die rolprente van 1946.
Op die seremonie is die neiging van die laat 1940's voortgesit om rolprente oor sosiale kwessies van dié tyd te bekroon. The Best Years of Our Lives gaan oor die lewe van drie veterane wat van die Tweede Wêreldoorlog af terugkeer en hoe hulle weer tuis aanpas ná die oorlog.
