Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul (17 Augustus 1932 – 11 Augustus 2018) was 'n Britse skrywer. Hy is gebore in Trinidad en Tobago, en is bekend vir sy fiksie en nie-fiksie werk in Engels.
Sy vroeë romans, wat afspeel in Trinidad, is bekend vir hul komiese karakter. Sy latere romans het 'n somber en donker karakter en dra 'n gevoel van ontnugtering, onthutsing en vervreemding in die wyer wêreld oor. Sy nie-fiksie werk is waaksame kronieke van die lewe en sy reise. Sy werk is wyd bewonder, en hy het meer as dertig boeke oor vyftig jaar gepubliseer.
Naipaul se deurbraakroman, A House for Mr Biswas, word gepubliseer in 1961. Naipaul wen in 1971 die Bookerprys vir sy roman In a Free State. In 1983 word hy bekroon met die Jerusalem-prys. Die Trinity Cross, Trinidad en Tobago se hoogste nasionale eerbewys, is in 1990 aan hom toegeken. In dieselfde jaar is hy tot ridder beslaan, en in 2001 ontvang hy die Nobelprys vir Letterkunde.
