Mannen De 16 deelnemende landen werden over 4 groepen verdeeld. De beste 2 landen van iedere groep gingen naar de tweede ronde. Hier werden de 8 landen verdeeld over 4 groepen. De nummers 1 en 2 van iedere groep speelden om de medailles, de nummers 3 en 4 om de plaatsen 5 t/m 8. Onderlinge resultaten telden voor het gehele toernooi.
