Marasmarcha rubriacuta is een vlinder uit de familie van de vedermotten (Pterophoridae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is, als Platyptilia rubriacuta, voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 2009 door Cees Gielis., 2009: On a collection of Pterophoridae (Lepidoptera) from Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Revue Suisse de Zoologie 116(2): 223-256. De combinatie in Marasmarcha werd in 2014 gemaakt door Kovtunovich, Ustjuzhanin & Murphy., 2014: Plume moths of Malawi (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae). De soort komt voor in het Afrotropisch gebied.
