This is a chronological and complete list of acts passed before 1861, by the Imperial Legislative Council between 1861 and 1947, the Constituent Assembly of India between 1947 and 1949, the Provisional Parliament between 1949 and 1952, and the Parliament of India since 1952. Apart from Finance Act, 862 Central Acts which are still in force as on date (including 848 Acts and 14 Spent Acts). Several of these Acts have been amended from time to time. Apart from this, various Acts have been passed by Parliament but have not been enforced as on date. List of Acts which are in force is tabulated below. These are available on Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department) website as well as on India Code website which is Digital repository providing comprehensive access to Indian legislations, acts, rules and regulations.
