Chester Rushing is an American actor and musician. He is known for portraying Tommy H. in the Netflix series Stranger Things and for starring as Chris in the horror film The Call (2020). His voice roles include Zeff in the animated series Big Nate and Stanley in the DreamWorks Animation series Fright Krewe.
Early life Rushing was born in Houston, Texas. When he was two years old, his family moved to the Middle East because of his father's work in the oil industry, and Rushing subsequently lived in nine countries, including Egypt, Romania and France. His family later settled in the Dallas area, where he attended Northwest High School near Roanoke, Texas. While at school, Rushing worked with students with special needs and played music for them, an experience that later contributed to his involvement with organizations supporting children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
Career Rushing appeared in Sean Brosnan's Southern Gothic revenge film My Father Die (2016), playing Chester, the older brother of the film's protagonist. He gained wider recognition the same year as Tommy H. in the Netflix series Stranger Things. In a 2016 profile, the Dallas Observer reported that the series was Rushing's first audition after taking a break from acting and that he filmed intermittently in Atlanta over five months. He also appeared as Jerry Larkin in the supernatural horror film Cold Moon.
In 2017, Rushing appeared in Jeepers Creepers 3. He later starred as Chris in the 2020 supernatural horror film The Call, alongside Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell. Reviewing the film, Drew Tinnin of Dread Central praised Rushing and co-star Erin Sanders, writing that both performers made an impression despite the film's focus on its veteran cast.
Rushing also expanded into voice acting. He voiced Zeff in the Paramount+ animated series Big Nate and Stanley in the DreamWorks Animation series Fright Krewe. Rushing has also worked as a musician; the Dallas Observer reported in 2016 that his eponymous band had performed at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival and that his song "Paint the World" had been sampled by electronic musician Enzo Darren.
