NGC 5967 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation of Apus. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is , which corresponds to a Hubble distance of . However, 18 non-redshift measurements give a much closer mean distance of . It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 7 June 1836.

NGC 5967 has a possible active galactic nucleus, i.e. it has a compact region at the center of a galaxy that emits a significant amount of energy across the electromagnetic spectrum, with characteristics indicating that this luminosity is not produced by the stars.

Supernova One supernova has been observed in NGC 5967: SN 2009gd (TypeIc, mag. 16.4) was discovered by Peter Marples, C. Drescher, G. Bock, M. Brown and J. Moser on 9 June 2009.
