Malaysia competed at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026. The Malaysian contingent comprised 352 athletes (203 men and 149 women) and 185 officials, and entered 156 events across 30 sports.

Background Preparation The Olympic Council of Malaysia appointed the president of the Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia, Datuk Sumali Reduan, as the chef de mission for the delegation, alongside appointments for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, 2026 Asian Beach Games, 2026 Youth Olympic Games, and 2027 SEA Games.

On 13 June 2026, the OCM appointed former squash player Mohd Azlan Iskandar and former tenpin bowler as deputy chefs de mission to provide inspiration and motivation to strive for excellence and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.

An initial July 2026 entry list comprised 347 athletes and 176 officials. By the flag-handover ceremony on 8 September, the final Malaysian delegation had increased to 537 members, comprising 352 athletes and 185 officials. Malaysia entered 156 of the 469 events in 30 sports and set a medal target of six gold, seven silver and 20 bronze medals, or 33 medals overall.

Medal summary

Malaysia won 32 medals—nine gold, seven silver and 16 bronze. The nine gold medals equalled Malaysia's previous best Asian Games gold-medal haul, achieved at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. The contingent exceeded its six-gold target but finished one medal short of its overall target of 33 medals.
