Cuando fui bonita is a Mexican romantic comedy television series based on the Korean drama She Was Pretty, created by Jo Sung-hee. The series stars Geraldine Galván and Daniel Gama. It premiered on Canal 5 on 28 September 2026.
Plot As a child, Paola was the prettiest and most popular girl in her school. When she meets Juan, an unattractive shy boy rejected by his classmates, she decides to defend him and become his best friend. A unique friendship blossoms between them, which, over time, transforms into her first love. However, they are separated when Juan leaves for Seoul with his father.
Years later, Paola lives a completely different life. Her father's bankruptcy forced her to abandon her dreams of becoming a writer and fight to find a job. Unconcerned with her appearance, Paola survives thanks to the support of Liz, her best friend, a beautiful and fashion-loving young woman who has become like a sister to her. Juan, on the other hand, has undergone a radical transformation. He has become an attractive, brilliant, and successful man. He returns to Mexico to save The Most, a prestigious fashion magazine, but also with a personal mission: to find Paola. When Juan finally manages to locate her, Paola panics.
Afraid of ruining Juan's perception of her, Paola asks Liz to impersonate her. While Liz develops feelings for Juan and her guilt over betraying her best friend grows, Paola gets a job at The Most and discovers that her new boss is Juan. Unable to reveal her identity, Paola will have to endure his criticism and demands. On the other hand, she meets Rodrigo, a funny and charming reporter who falls in love with her just as she is. Little by little, Juan begins to discover small details in Paola that remind him of the girl he loved. Paola's hidden identity, a web of lies, and old childhood promises set the lives of Juan, Paola, Rodrigo and Liz to the test.

Production On 5 March 2026, it was announced that Pedro Ortiz de Pinedo would produce a Mexican remake of the Korean drama She Was Pretty for Canal 5. The original series aired on the network in April 2024. On 16 April 2026, Geraldine Galván and Daniel Gama were announced in the lead roles. The following week, Cuando fui bonita was announced as the title of the series. Filming of the series took place from 28 May 2026 to 17 August 2026.
