Miami improved to 3–0 overall and 2–0 in ACC play with a 33–20 road victory over Wake Forest. Darian Mensah completed 30 of 34 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns, setting ACC records for consecutive completions in a game (24) and across multiple games (35), and was subsequently named ACC Quarterback of the Week. The Hurricanes' victory came at a cost, however, as running back CharMar Brown and wide receiver Joshua Moore were both ruled out for the remainder of the season with injuries.
