Nemataba is a village and commune in the department of Vélingara, in the Kolda region of Senegal.Decree #2009-621 of 30 June 2009 establishing the territorial plan and the capitals of regions, departments and arrondissements, published in the Journal officiel de la République du Sénégal, #6489 of Saturday September 19th 2009. According to oral history, Tiramakhan Traore, founder of Kaabu, also founded Nemataba, where he built three fortresses and stayed for three years.
