Football in Singapore dates back to the late 19th century, when Singapore was a British colony. The Football Association of Singapore was formed in 1892, and the first national league competition took place in 1904.

The league system in Singapore has been re-organised several times since 1975.

Currently, the top level in Singapore is the Singapore Premier League (SPL). Below that are Singapore Football League 1 (SFL1) and Singapore Football League 2 (SFL2), the second and third levels. At the fourth level is the Island Wide League.

Men's national leagues

The national leagues in Singapore are currently the Singapore Premier League, the Singapore Football League, which consists of two divisions, and the Singapore Island Wide League.
