List of Indian Super League coaches

The Indian Super League is the top tier of professional football in India. The league was formed in 2014 as a tournament until it was recognised as one of the first division leagues in 2017 with the existing I-League, later replacing it to become the only top division league since 2022. To date, there have been 79 head coaches (including interim head coaches) in charge of the 14 clubs that have played in the league.

Sergio Lobera holds the record for most matches coached in the Indian Super League with 127, which he managed from 2017 to 2021, and from 2023 to 2025. Sergio Lobera (two ISL League Shields and one ISL Cup), José Francisco Molina (one ISL League Shield and two ISL Cups) and Antonio López Habas (one ISL League Shield and two ISL Cups), who won three titles each, have been the most successful head coach in the Indian Super League. Habas have managed the most teams in the Indian Super League, having taken charge of four different clubs. Many of the coaches listed below served as caretaker coaches in the period between a coaching departure and an appointment. A few of these, however, went on to secure a permanent coaching post; for example, Khalid Jamil took over as an interim coach of NorthEast United in January 2021 and became the head coach of the team in the following season.

Head coaches The list of head coaches includes everyone who has managed clubs while they were in the Indian Super League, whether in a permanent or temporary role. Caretaker coaches are listed only when they managed the team for at least one match in that period.

The dates of appointment may fall outside the club period in the league, for example, Albert Roca was appointed as Bengaluru coach in 2016 (before the club's entry in the league in 2017) and remained in his position through the club's introduction into the league. +Key Incumbent head coach Caretaker head coach* Present up to date as of 24 July 2025 +Head coachesNameClubFromUntilDuration(days)Years inLeagueAntonio López HabasATK1 July 201420 December 2015537José Francisco Molina5 May 201618 December 20162272016Teddy Sheringham14 July 201724 January 20181942017–2018Ashley Westwood ‡24 January 20183 March 2018382018Robbie Keane4 March 201831 May 2018882018Steve Coppell18 June 201830 April 20193162018–2019Antonio López Habas3 May 201931 May 20203942019–2020Albert RocaBengaluru6 July 201631 May 20186942017–2018Carles Cuadrat1 July 20186 January 20219202018–2021Naushad Moosa ‡6 January 202125 February 2021502021Marco Pezzaiuoli12 February 20218 June 20224812021–2022Simon Grayson8 June 20229 December 20235492022–2023Gerard Zaragoza14 December 202314 November 20257012023–2025Renedy Singh †14 November 2025Present*2025–Marco MaterazziChennaiyin6 March 20177242014–2016John Gregory3 July 201730 November 20198802017–2019Owen Coyle4 December 201914 March 20201012019–2020Csaba László30 August 202010 April 20212232020–2021Božidar Bandović10 July 202111 February 20222162021–2022Syed Sabir Pasha ‡11 February 202214 June 20221232022Thomas Brdarić 14 June 202210 June 20233612022–2023Owen Coyle 16 July 202317 July 20257322023–2025Clifford Miranda †12 September 2025Present*2025–Robbie FowlerEast Bengal9 October 20208 September 20213342020–2021Manolo Díaz8 September 202128 December 20211112021Renedy Singh ‡28 December 202114 January 2022172021–2022Mario Rivera 1 January 202220 March 2022782022Stephen Constantine27 July 202217 April 20232642022–2023Carles Cuadrat 25 April 202330 September 20245252023–2024Óscar Bruzón †8 October 2024Present*2024–ZicoGoa2 September 201418 December 20168382014–2016Sergio Lobera6 June 20171 February 20209702017–2020Clifford Miranda ‡3 February 202030 April 2020872020Juan Ferrando30 April 202020 December 20216072020–2021Derrick Pereira ‡21 December 202120 March 2022892021–2022Carlos Peña16 April 202223 April 20233722022–2023Manolo Márquez †3 June 2023Present*2023–Phil BrownDelhi29 August 201911 January 20201352019–2020Mehrajuddin Wadoo ‡11 January 202024 January 2020132020Xavier Gurri López ‡24 January 20201 June 20201292020Manolo Márquez31 August 202031 May 202310032020–2023Thangboi Singto 7 July 202317 Dec 20244602023–2024Shameel Chembakath ‡17 Dec 202431 May 20251652024–Tomasz Tchórz †19 October 2025Present*2025–Antonio López Habas Inter Kashi25 July 2024Present*2024–Steve CoppellJamshedpur14 July 201731 May 20183212017–2018César Ferrando21 July 20185 April 20192582018–2019Antonio Iriondo26 July 201929 February 20202182019–2020Owen Coyle7 August 202022 March 20225922020–2022Aidy Boothroyd10 July 202231 May 20233252022–2023Scott Cooper 14 July 202329 December 20231682023Khalid Jamil 31 December 202313 August 20255912023–2025Owen Coyle †24 January 2026Present*2026–David JamesKerala Blasters20 August 201420 December 20141222014Peter Taylor9 May 201528 October 20151722015Trevor Morgan ‡28 October 20151 November 201542015Terry Phelan1 November 201520 December 2015572015Steve Coppell21 June 201612 July 20173862016–2017René Meulensteen14 July 20172 January 20181722017–2018David James3 January 201818 December 20183492018Nelo Vingada ‡18 January 201917 March 2019582019Eelco Schattorie19 May 201922 April 20203392019–2020Kibu Vicuña22 April 202017 February 20213012020–2021Ishfaq Ahmed ‡17 February 202117 June 20211202021Ivan Vukomanović17 June 202126 April 20241,0442021–2024Frank Dauwen ‡5 April 202316 April 2023112023Mikael Stahre 23 May 202416 December 20242072024T.
