Ophichthus brasiliensis is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).Ophichthus brasiliensis at www.fishbase.org. It was described by Johann Jakob Kaup in 1856, originally under the genus Centrurophis.Kaup, J. J., 1856 [ref. 2572] Uebersicht der Aale. Archiv für Naturgeschichte v. 22 (no. 1): 41-77. It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from Brazil, in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean (from which its species epithet is derived).
