The enzyme characterised from the lycophyte Selaginella moellendorffii converts geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate to the labdane derivative, (13E)-labda-7,13-dien-15-ol, and pyrophosphate (PPi). The reaction proceeds in two steps: cyclisation and then hydrolysis.
