Griphopithecus is a prehistoric ape from the Miocene of Turkey and Central Europe.
Description Griphopithecus has been consistently grouped with stem hominoids. The material therefore indicates the range of hominoid locomotor anatomy in mid-Miocene Europe, rather than a specifically crown hominoid anatomy.
