Heathmont station is a railway station operated by Metro Trains Melbourne on the Belgrave line, part of the Melbourne rail network. It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of the same name in Victoria, Australia. It was opened on 1 May 1926, with the current station layout dating from 1982.
History Like the suburb itself, Heathmont was named after the extensive heath and shrub-like vegetation across the elevated land in the area.
A station at the site was promised by the Victorian Railways in 1925. Locals in and around Heathmont had been campaigning for a station to be constructed on the line at Heathmont.
In 1929, a post office was constructed in Heathmont, nearby to the station.
After the Second World War, Heathmont began to urbanise rapidly with the influx of new migrants from Europe. Between 1953 and 1958, the population of Heathmont went from roughly 600 to around 3000.
In 1977, the station building on the city-bound platform (Platform 1) was provided. On 19 December 1982, a second platform (Platform 2) was opened, as a result of the duplication of the line between Ringwood and Bayswater.
As part of the stations 100th anniversary in May 2026, celebrations were held at the station. Performers included a choir from a local primary school.
