Die CART-Saison 1984 (offiziell CART PPG Indy Car World Series) war die sechste von CART veranstaltete Meisterschaft und die 63. Saison im US-amerikanischen Formelsport.
Hintergrund Die Saison begann am 1. April in Long Beach und endete nach 16 Rennen am 11. November in Las Vegas.
In Kanada wurde der neunte Saisonlauf zum ersten Mal auf dem Sanair Super Speedway gefahren. Ebenfalls zum ersten Mal fuhr man auf dem Long Beach Grand Prix Circuit, dem Portland International Raceway und auf dem Meadowlands Sports Complex. Saisonverlauf Der Formel-1-Weltmeister von 1978 Mario Andretti gewann zum vierten Mal den Titel. Mit sechs Rennsiegen sicherte er sich die Meisterschaft vor Tom Sneva mit 13 Punkten Vorsprung. Es war gleichzeitig auch der erste Fahrer-Meister den das Team Newman/Haas Racing hervorbrachte.
Der Sieg beim Indianapolis 500 ging an Rick Mears und das Team Penske.
Den Titel „Rookie of the Year“ gewann Roberto Guerrero, sein bestes Resultat war ein zweiter Rang beim Indy 500.
