Samuel Barclay Charters (* 1. August 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; † 18.

Sein Interesse an Bluesmusik wurde geweckt, nachdem er Bessie Smiths Version von Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out gehört hatte.

1959 veröffentlichte Charters sein erstes Buch The Country Blues.

Larry Rohter: Samuel Charters, Foundational Scholar of the Blues, Dies at 85.
