Keith George Cowling (* 7. Juli 1936 in Scunthorpe/Lincolnshire; † 16. Leben und Wirken Keith Cowling studierte zunächst Agrarwissenschaft an der University of London und legte dort 1958 die Bachelorprüfung ab. Er konzentrierte sich dann auf das Gebiet der Agrarwirtschaft, setzte sein Studium in den USA an der University of Illinois fort und promovierte an dieser Universität 1962 zum Ph.D. Bis 1966 war er als Dozent an der University of Manchester tätig. 1966 wechselte er an die University of Warwick und wurde dort 1970 zum Professor ernannt. Er entwickelte hier sein Hauptforschungsgebiet in der Industrieökonomik, publizierte hierüber und wurde weithin bekannt. Gastprofessuren hatte er an mehreren Universitäten vor allem in den USA inne. Seit 1997 war er außerdem Honorarprofessor an der University of Aberystwyth in Wales. Er wirkte in zahlreichen Fachgesellschaften mit sowie im Redaktionsstab mehrerer Zeitschriften. Cowling war stark geprägt von der Theorie des Monopolkapitalismus.
