Synonyme sind: Arrhinie-Choanalatresie-Mikrophthalmie; Gifford-Bosma-Syndrom;

Die Erstbeschreibung stammt aus dem Jahre 1972 durch den Chirurgen George Gifford und Mitarbeiter.G. H. Gifford, L. Swanson, D. W. MacCollum: Congenital absence of the nose and anterior nasopharynx. Report of two cases. In: Plastic and reconstructive surgery, Juli 1972, Band 50, Nummer 1, S. 5–12; doi:10.1097/00006534-197207000-00002, PMID 5032329.

Die Namensbezeichnungen beziehen sich auf eine Publikation aus dem Jahre 1981 durch J. F. Bosma, R. I. Henkin, R. L. Christiansen und J. R. HerdtJ. F. Bosma, R. I. Henkin, R. L. Christiansen, J. R. In: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, Mai 1978, Band 172, Nummer 5, S. 708–715, PMID 672092.
