J. Bennett, F. A. Cotton, R. Eiss: The crystal and molecular structure of trimeric bis(acetylacetonato)zinc(II). In: Acta Crystallographica Section B Structural Crystallography and Crystal Chemistry. 24, 1968, S. 904, . Des Weiteren sind Kristallstrukturen des Monohydrats und Dihydrats bekannt.

Verwendung Zinkacetylacetonat wird als Hydrat zur Herstellung von magnetischen (Zn,Fe)Fe2O4-Filmen, ZinkoxidYoichi Inubushi, Ryoji Takami u. a.: Mechanism of Formation of Nanocrystalline ZnO Particles through the Reaction of Zn(acac)2 with NaOH in EtOH.
