Der Grammy Award for Best Historical Album, auf Deutsch „Grammy-Auszeichnung für das beste historische Album“, ist ein Musikpreis, der seit 1979 von der amerikanischen Recording Academy verliehen wird. Der Preis geht an den Produzenten und Toningenieur des jeweiligen Albums.
Geschichte und Hintergrund Die seit 1959 verliehenen Grammy Awards werden jährlich in zahlreichen Kategorien von der Recording Academy in den Vereinigten Staaten vergeben, um künstlerische Leistung, technische Kompetenz und hervorragende Gesamtleistung ohne Rücksicht auf die Album-Verkäufe oder Chart-Position zu würdigen.
Eine dieser Kategorien ist der Grammy Award for Best Historical Album. Die Auszeichnung wird seit 1979 verliehen. Seit der Erstverleihung hat sich der Name der Auszeichnung mehrmals geringfügig geändert:
1979 hieß die Auszeichnung Grammy Award for Best Historical Repackage Album 1980 nannte sie sich Grammy Award for Best Historical Reissue 1981 wurde sie umbenannt in Grammy Award for Best Historical Reissue Album Seit 1982 hat sie den Namen Grammy Award for Best Historical Album.
