Die Bezeichnung „Große Kuckuckstaube“ dient noch zur Beschreibung des Macropygia magna-Komplexes (Macropygia magna sensu lato), der aus folgenden Unterarten bestand: M. m. macassariensis , 1865 M. m. longa , 1930 M. m. magna , 1864 M. m. timorlaoensis , 1884
