Platycerus caucasicus is een keversoort uit de familie vliegende herten (Lucanidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1864 door Parry. "A Catalogue of Lucanoid Coleoptera; with Illustrations and Descriptions of various new and interesting Species." Transactions of the Entomological Society of London, Vol. II (Third Series), Part I, Mei 1864. Zoals de naam zegt komt de soort voor in de Kaukasus.
