Thecagaster amasina is een echte libel uit de familie van de bronlibellen (Cordulegastridae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voorgesteld als Cordulegaster insignis amasina (geschreven als "amasinus") door Kenneth John Morton in een publicatie uit 1916. (1916).
