Sebastian Vettel veroverde poleposition, voor zijn teamgenoot bij het Red Bull Racing team Mark Webber. Fernando Alonso veroverde de derde plek op de startopstelling.
De race werd gewonnen door Mark Webber. Lewis Hamilton finishte in zijn thuisrace op de tweede plaats, gevolgd door Nico Rosberg.
