Musser, G.G. & Carleton, M.D. 2005. Superfamily Muroidea. In Wilson, D.E. & Reeder, D.M. (eds.). Mammal Species of the World. 3rd ed.

& Suzuki, H. 2003. Geographic variation of Mus caroli from East and Southeast Asia based on mitochondrial cytochrome b gene sequences. Mammal Study 28:67-72. Motokawa, M., Lin, L.-K. & Motokawa, J. 2003. Morphological Comparison of Ryukyu Mouse Mus caroli (Rodentia: Muridae) Populations from Okinawajima and Taiwan. Zoological Studies 42(2):258-267.

Marshall, J.T., Jr. 1977. A synopsis of Asian species of Mus (Rodentia, Muridae). Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History 158:173-220.
