Dichomeris empusa is een vlinder uit de familie van de tastermotten (Gelechiidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1986 door Hodges., 1986: Moths of America North of Mexico, fasc. 7.1. (Gelechioidea: Gelechiidae): 97-98.
